Europaring der Buch- und Schallplattenfreunde was founded in 1961 as a combination of Bertelsmann Lesering and Bertelsmann Schallplattenring. From now on, members can choose books as well as records from the complete program of both clubs. During the 1960s, Europaring provides significant impetus for the founding of new clubs outside Germany. In 1964, Europaring takes over the work of all three Rings in the German-speaking countries outside Germany (in 1969 the Austrian branch merges with the Donauland book club). The music program mainly reflects the Schallplattenring range, supplemented by exclusive releases for Europaring members. From 1982, Europaring operates in Germany under the unified Bertelsmann Club brand. The Swiss subsidiary is continued as Europaring until 1996.
